Guidelines
These guidelines prescribe the allowable ambient concentrations of pollutants which are not to be exceeded during a specified time period in a defined area. If the air quality guidelines are exceeded, the ambient air quality is poor and the potential for health effects is greatest.
The City of Johannesburg Ambient Air Quality Guidelines. Values are expressed in µg/m3 and where appropriate ppb (the volume standardized at a temperature of 20 °C and a pressure of 101,3 kPa (after Scorgie et al, 2003):
